Settlyn is seeking self-motivated and kind, critical thinkers who would enjoy helping folks transition into and out of condominiums. This is a part-time job similar to gig work, where you accept or deny jobs as you are invited to them. Our Move Specialists operate in the Pearl District, South Waterfront, and NW Portland.

As a Move Specialist, your main goal is to deliver prompt, reliable, and courteous ‘concierge’ type service to residents, movers, and property managers while overseeing the move. You provide access to clients’ buildings, facilitate elevator use, conduct damage assessments, and support the residents and their move team.

Our Specialists are the face of Settlyn and set the tone for residents and moving companies as they move in or out of the condominium properties we work with. We take pride in offering real-time solutions to moving hazards and believe in being present and intentional in all that we do.

Requirements:

  • The ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to asses potential risks to moves and address them as needed
  • Engaging, direct, and friendly verbal communications skills
  • Punctual and detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy of both time and damage assessments
  • A phone that is capable of taking videos and sending images via text or email
  • Spatial awareness and the ability to lift 25-lbs and climb short ladders
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality for clients and buildings

Responsibilities: 

  • Record pre and post move damage assessment videos of the moving path on your phone, write down your assessments on the 'Move Supervision' form
  • Follow and fill out the 'Move Supervision' form during each move, acquiring a signature from the resident or movers at the end of each move to confirm your assessments
  • Prepare buildings for moves by removing hazards from the moving path, posting signage notifying residents of moves, hanging elevator pads and laying down elevator floor protection
  • Supervise building entrances, opening and closing doors when needed: while doors are propped open, kindly ask residents to show proof of residency before entering 
  • Introduce yourself to the resident and relay the relevant building move policies to them and/or their movers before beginning each move

Compensation:

All of our Settlyn Supervisors are paid between $21.00 - $25.00 / hour depending on experience.

Moves vary in length, 4 hours is common. Moves are scheduled at various times, Monday through Saturday, between 8:00am and 5:00pm. On occasion moves are only an hour or even get canceled shorty after our staff arrive on site. We value your time and appreciate your availability as such we guarantee a minimum of 3 hours of pay for all jobs no matter how short.
